Fic Title: Putting the Pieces Back Together
Author: [livejournal.com profile] aeris444
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala
Characters/Pairings: Merlin/Arthur
Summary: Colin is moving into a new house. As he's packing his things, he finds memorabilia of "Merlin" and starts to thing about missed opportunities and loneliness but isn't it too late?

Notes: Thank you to the mods of [livejournal.com profile] merlinreversebb - a challenge like this takes some real organization skills and a lot of dedication. I really appreciate your efforts!

[livejournal.com profile] aeris444 was a wonderful collaborator -- providing feedback and supplying me with some images and suggestions. (My favorite was the suggestion to include a map of Wales with sheep drawn on it.)
The art was improved immensely because of feedback from [livejournal.com profile] sophiap, who has been a wonderful beta.

My original submission to merlinreversebb:

Notes: [livejournal.com profile] sophiap has been absolutely indespensible to me this summer as a beta and I have to give her all the props.
[livejournal.com profile] eurydice72 took my intial drafty-drafty art submission and wrote an original, intriguing, and evocative story. I feel really lucky to have my art attached to it. And a big shout out to the mods of [livejournal.com profile] merlinreversebb -- [livejournal.com profile] witchyemerald and [livejournal.com profile] chosenfire28 for all their hard work.

Art also at AO3

Because there are more authors than writers participating in merlinreversebb, they are acccepting additional art submissions until 4/28. I have an idea and most of what I need EXCEPT a full-length picture of Bradley James, from the back. Preferably from not too far away and of decent quality and size. I have looked through every source I can find and have been completely unsuccessful. I can find a full view of Arthur, but that doesn't fit with what I want to do.

If you know of any photos that will work, please direct me to them! Your help will be greatly appreciated.

And if you know of any good communities for this type of question, let me know that, too.

I'm in!

Fic Title: The Dare
Author: [livejournal.com profile] seravia
Characters/Pairings: Arthur/Merlin

My third and last [livejournal.com profile] merlinreversebb art post for this round. The prompt was a very rough draft but [livejournal.com profile] seravia claimed it and went with it. I have yet seen the final version of her story, but I am definitely looking forward to it.

A big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] puckboum for beta'ing these pieces and giving me some great advice. I learned a valuable lesson about matching contrast levels when combining images.

Finding the sign might have been the toughest part of this art project. The font on the sign and on the banner is James Tan Dinawanao by jamzmorg from www1001fonts.com. The texture used in the banner is from a set provided by Queen-Bartonia at deviantART.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] argentsleeper
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala
Characters/Pairings: Merlin/Arthur
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 37,000
Warnings: Issues of Mental Illness, Psychological Torture

Summary: All sorcerers live in fear of the National Association Against Magical Creatures. Their head agent, Arthur Pendragon, loves his job and believes firmly in his cause, dedicating his life to hunting down those with magic.

Merlin, however, has no life which to dedicate. Declared dead by his mother at age three in a desperate attempt to save him from the law, he now has to find a new way to exist.

He believes he's doing well until the day his and Arthur's worlds collide.

Artist's Notes: This is the first round of merlinreversebb I've participated in and it has been really exciting to have art claimed and then developed into amazing stories. I loved this story, though I think it is crying out for a sequel, [livejournal.com profile] argentsleeper! A big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] amphigoury for the beta -- your suggestions were excellent.

Fic title: Waiting for the Eastern Glow by [livejournal.com profile] nympha_alba On AO3
Art by [livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala
Characters/Pairings: Merlin/Arthur
Rating: R
Word Count: ~11k
Warnings: Angst, (canon) death, reincarnation

Camelot, then:
If Merlin was born to serve Arthur, what will become of him now that Arthur is dead? He is nothing without his king, only a sorcerer with no use for his magic…
London, now:
When Merlin sits on a park bench reading, trying to ignore the group of young men playing football on the lawn, he has no idea that his life is about to change forever – or that he has reason to know better than anyone what the word "forever" really means.

Art notes:
It wasn't long before [livejournal.com profile] merlinreversebb claiming that I read and really enjoyed The View From the Mountain by [livejournal.com profile] nympha_alba, so I was pretty thrilled to have an art submission claimed by her. I am not disappointed -- Waiting for the Eastern Glow is a lovely story and it inspired me to create a gif that I am pretty happy with. A big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] chosenfire28 for organizing this.

Blending photo technique from this tutorial: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/photo-blend/
A big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] amphigoury who beta'd this for me. I didn't incorporate the changes suggested because I had difficulty executing them, but I greatly appreciate the time and effort!

For the gif I used a screenshot from the last episode. I made a selection of Merlin and copied it onto a transparent layer. I then removed Merlin from the original image using the content-aware fill tool and duplicated the altered layer multiple times. On each successive layer I gradually reduced the saturation, lightened the image, and added noise. I duplicated the Merlin layer and then merged his figure onto each of the other layers so it appeared that the world was changing around him. Then I created the animation. A larger version of it can be found on my tumblr.

Both my art submissions over at merlinreversebb are claimed and I am relieved.

I've been creating art (photo manips because I cannot draw) that might suggest a story, but doesn't explicitly tell a story. I looked over what else was being claimed and realized that the most popular pieces do illustrate a point in a story, which would give the author something more to work with. Plus, some of this art is AMAZING. Something for me to consider for my next challenge.
